Critique: Woh Kaun Thi?

One night of turbulence, Dr. Anand is on his way back to home when he meets a girl in white saari. He offers her lift and she accepts. She guides him to a cemetery and disappears. A man who seems to be crazy stops his car and begs him to save his daughter who is dead and is none other than the mysterious girl.

He goes back and returns with cops to find the place deserted for long. He is puzzled and decides to investigate but more surprises are there in the Pandora box. He later finds out the girl his mother has singled out as her prospective bride is none other than the same mysterious girl. He falls for her. But what is the truth of the mysterious girl. Is she flesh or just an illusion or… a ghost?

Anand is puzzled and weirdly in love with Sandhya- the girl in white saari. When in 1964, this black and white mystery horror thriller banged the silver screen, it created history. Story of an alluring beauty, a helpful doctor and numerous mysteries later became a trendsetter for numerous movies.

Directed by Raj Khosla and starring Sadhna, Manoj Kumar and Prem Chopra, Who Kaun Thi is a milestone in Indian Cinema. Background score in a horror flick should be of great quality. Who Kaun Thi had an advantage. Score was good but music was awesome. Like the melody- Lag Jaa Gale, a song that brought Sandhya alive as Anand’s muse.
