Rating- **1/2
The excitement is only understandable: the director of 'V for Vendetta', the makers of 'Matrix Trilogy', a film having 'Ninja' in title. What could us mortals look for more, eh?
The movie starts with an awesome (blood-filled, yeah) scene, alright. It tells the story of a clan that breeds killers who have executed killings for more than a thousand years. This 'Ozunu' clan kidnaps children to train them into becoming these killing machines when they grow up. One of these trained killers, Raizo (played by Rain) starts to hate the clan when his love interest( who also belongs to same clan) is killed off for trying to leave. His revenge forms the most part of the film.
If the Fanboy is jumping to know were there any entertaining action scenes? Yes, three of them-
1. The scene of Raizo's first killing.
2. My favorite scene is the one where the ninjas fight it out on the road. (can you remember 'Matrix Reloaded' Scene in which Trinity drives against the traffic? This Ninja scene was similar and with ninja's fighting in the traffic! )
3. Climactic fight scene.
Rain does preform in action scenes superbly (awesome physique too!), but his acting skills are just passable. The thing is Rain's character fails to strike a chord, as one fails to feel sympathy with Protagonist. As a viewer there are many stretches of the movie, that are boring as they fail to engage. The plot is confusing and unconvincing for the most part
Verdict- It isn't too bad, it isn't too good either! It is watchable but not memorable, I would prefer my 'Kill Bill Vol.1' DVD over this, anyday.
