Exciting releases; Bolly Cinema 2010 | Under Lens

2009 was a spectacular year by all means. Movies spilling their magical spells and creating an auro (aura) all around. From Dev D to 3 Idiots, movies have been stretching the walls of conventional cinema and raising the bar for the makers of the next decade. Do you remember the last time we saw movies at par with Dev D, Gulaal, Straight, Kaminey, Paa, Firaaq, APKGK, Rocket Singh, 3 Idiots… all in one year. May be sometime before I born…

Cut to 2010… first year of a new decade. Some great movies are expected to be released this year. Lets have a look over the ten most awaited movies…

1.       ISHQIYA: Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan are good actors but this doesn’t make movie a potent mixture. Naseeruddin Shah and mentorship of Vishal Bhardwaj does so. Ishqiya is going to be a bold and smart movie, atleast the promos suggests so. I am in, what about you?

2.       MY NAME IS KHAN: Kajol is back after Fanaa. Interestingly with Shahrukh and the person who is behind this movie is Karan Johar. Sharukh is suffering from Asperger syndrome and the movie is all about him with a backdrop of 9/11. After NY and Kurbaan overdose of terrorism, the selling point of this movie is stressed to be on romance.

3.       RAAVAN: Abhishek, Aishwarya and director Maniratnam. The trio is going to create magic all again. Accidents and misfortune had already marred the making, I hope controversies don’t stop it from the release.

4.       RANN: Amitabh Bachchan and Media! In 80s they were like parallel roads and now AB is working in a movie all about media.

5.       KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK: Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone are two hot selling cakes of Indian cinema. While Farhan has proved that he is really good, Deepika has to prove a lot. KCK is definitely going to be a cool movie. But will the pair sizzle?

6.       DOSTANA 2: Love birds are back. Abhishek and John… the guys who made society comfortable about gays. Now, with news of Riteish and Shreyas in, I guess there won’t be a lot for Katrina to do. I just hope it doesn’t turn to be something on the lines of Golmaal.

7.       TEEN PATTI: 21 is the game. A student who is a Maths whiz kid outsmarts the professionals at Casino with the help of a professor and a team. That was 21, the movie. TP is a remake with biggies like Sir Ben Kingsley and Amitabh Bachchan. Watch out for R. Madhwan. He is going to surprise you all.

8.       RAJNEETI: Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar (not confirmed), Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in a movie by Prakash Jha based on politics… still want a reason?

9.       KITES: Barbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan and quite ignored Kangana, the movie has already raised eyebrows for the affair between the Mexican Lady and Indian smarty. Promos are… oomph.

10.   MILENGE MILENGE: Promos suggest it to be a movie conceived in 90s and released after two decades. Man, why am I waiting for it? Because I loved Jab We Met and don’t want to miss the last movie of the erstwhile lovebirds- Kareena and Shahid; till something happens…

2010… I am ready for you… Are you ready?

Good job Ali bhai ... really well written !!!
MNIK is my pick for MOVIE of the Year...

But hey!
U have written that 2009 was a spectacular... But I don't agre with that... It was ordinary... though some movies were really good but 2009 was mostly a dull year for Indian Cinema

@Yajur: well agreed we had quiet many ordinary films but films like Dev D and Luck By Chance did raise the bar... Delhi 6 was under rated to an extent (raaz ki baat; i dont like Kaminey too much)

agreed it sould have been a better year, sorry i didnt mention but this post is by Sujoy... will edit it soon
