Now, Vishal in himself is a renowned music director. The duo Vishal-Shekhar has given us many chartbusters. And this is not the first time that he has sung a song for some other composer(s). Gadbadi-Hadbadi (Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year), Kurbaan hua (Kurbaan), Barso yaron (London Dreams), Dhan-te-n an (Kaminey) & Nazara hai (8x10 Tasveer) are some of the latest chart toppers that feature Vishal as the singer, but have different music composers.
But he is not the only one in the league. In fact, it is kind of a growing trend in bollywood. Remember Billo rani (Dhan-Dhana-Dhan Goal), Mumbai nagariya (Taxi no. 9211), Ek lo ek muft (Guru), Ahista-Ahista(Bachna ae haseeno) & Small town girl (Bachna ae haseeno)?? ... all of them have different composers as their singers. In billo rani, Anand Raj Anand sang for Pritam, & in Mumbai nagariya & Ek lo ek muft, Bappi Lahiri sang for Vishal-Shekhar & A.R.Rehman, respectively, while Ahista-2 saw Lucky Ali singing for Vishal-Shekhar, & Shankar Mahadevan gave his voice to Small town girl, for Vishal-Shekhar again.
It is good to see how music directors are appreciating the talent of other music directors, thereby developing a healthy spirit of competition. And the best part is that, we, the listeners, are getting quality music. I hope & wish that this multi-talented lot of bollywood composers will continue to deliver us chartbusters like this.
